Hello and welcome to my travels in Loy-Loy Land.
That's Loy-Loy as in Land Of Yes. This is both a physical
location (Los Angeles, West Hollywood and environs) and a state of
mind. More especially, it's a state of mind. The Land Of Yes can be
in San Francisco or Santa Barbara, and it can be in London.
Although, if it's in London it's Loy-Loy without the money, which
doesn't make the behaviour quite as exotic. But wherever it's
located, Loy-Loy Land is certainly a place where strange things
happen.
Publishing a novel, for example, is quite a rich experience, a
relatively unusual thing. But if you want to know what the truly
unusual is all about, try going to a meeting in Loy-Loy Land.
Going to? Note the deliberate, counter-cultural use of the wrong
verb. You don't go to a meeting in Loy-Loy Land. You take
a meeting, or you give a meeting (giving good meeting is what the
Loy-Loys thrive on).
Anyway, I'm conker-deep in the development process of turning a
novel into a movie, and thought the meta-narrative (otherwise known
as the story about the story, or, I suppose, an industry blog)
might amuse.
There will be many a flashback, as we're far down the road. But
the journey starts with a little breakfast meeting. All you have to
do to join me, is click just here.
